When we opened Auten Printing, Inc. in 2001, few paper companies talked about recycled paper and few clients wanted to use it. At that time, the term “green printing” was hardly on the horizon.

Since then, owner Stewart Auten has encouraged the use and promotion of green printing practices. This, along with Hi-Def printing as another focus, brought about the corporate name change to Vivid Image, Inc. Convinced that this is not a fad and even more important, that this is good for our health and our future, he has committed energy, resources, and the company culture to this end of going green.

Auten Printing, Inc. opened with one press and some bindery equipment at 795 Haywood Rd in 2001. Since then, dramatic growth in business, staff, and equipment required buying and moving to a much larger building at 9 W. Chestnut Ridge. With a large covered dock, large parking area, plenty room for expansion, and next to I-26, Vivid Image, Inc is staged well for continued growth.

Vivid Image, Inc now has 5 presses, including a digital press, a 90 page booklet maker, programmable 3 hole drill, high speed folders with 90 degree capabilities, booklet maker, saddle stitcher, gluing machine, shrink wrapper, wireo book binder, GBC booklet binder, high speed copier, padding equipment, scoring machines, perforating equipment, numbering machine, advanced computer-to-plate maker for metal plates, banner printer, scanner table, and multiple computers (Mac and PC) for the graphic design department.

Going green is visible throughout our operation. Using soy inks, chemical free plate development, recycled rags for cleaning presses, alcoholfree fountain solution, recycling paper, recycling aluminum press plates, using recycled or certified FSC paper, protecting our environment and minimizing the waste of our natural resources is a priority.
